Board of Directors
The Board of Directors at Evergreen Preschool is composed of current parents, alumni parents, and community members. The Board is responsible for overseeing the school’s general management, property, business affairs, and fundraising efforts. It also sets school policy and revises the school’s by-laws as needed.
Board meetings are held on the second Monday of every month, with additional meetings scheduled as necessary. These meetings are open to the public, and we encourage interested parties to attend at any time.
New members are recruited year-round, with elections for open Board positions taking place annually in May.

Katrina
Matthews
Treasurer
Katrina has been a Vermont resident since 1972 and has lived in Vergennes since 1976. She graduated from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY, with a degree in Education and became involved with Evergreen Preschool in 1982. Initially, she taught a one-day-a-week program for 3-year-olds and served as the Treasurer of the organization. Over the years, Katrina continued to teach in various programs—ranging from 2-day to kindergarten—across different locations, including Water Street, Green Street, and Sand Road, until 1994.
After leaving Evergreen, Katrina spent 20 years at Vermont Teddy Bear, working in retail, forecasting/analysis, and marketing. She returned to Evergreen and has served on the Board as Treasurer ever since. Katrina’s ongoing involvement with Evergreen is rooted in her deep love for the organization and its families. As Treasurer, she is proud to give back to the community that has supported her for so many years.

Marcia Stone
Marcia joined the Evergreen Board of Directors in January 2025 and is excited to contribute both on the board and as a substitute teacher when needed. With a degree in Early Childhood Education, Marcia has worn many hats in Vermont schools. She started a Kindergarten program in a multi-graded classroom, where she also served as the teaching principal, a role that came with some unexpected perks, like moonlighting as the “lunch Uber lady” when she had to drive to a neighboring school to fetch hot lunches. On occasion, she and her late husband even took turns driving the school bus, proving there’s no job too big (or too small) when it comes to supporting kids. Outside of education, Marcia has had meaningful careers in the non-profit sector, working with USCRI Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Now retired, Marcia’s favorite role is being “Nana” to her grandchildren, two of whom attend Evergreen in the 2- and 3-day programs. She couldn’t be prouder to support a school that has become a special part of her family’s life.

Chasity
DeMers
Chasity joined the Evergreen Board of Directors in 2022, inspired by her daughter Evelyn’s first year at the preschool. She wanted to become more involved in her children’s educational experience and was deeply impressed by the nurturing environment Evergreen provides for both children and families.
Chasity holds a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and has a passion for lifelong learning, recently earning certification as a Breathwork Facilitator. She lives in New Haven with her husband, Leon, and their two children, Evelyn and Ander.

Erin Teodosio
Erin joined the board in 2024 when her daughter Eloise started at Evergreen. Erin is a New Jersey native who earned her B.A. in English Literature from Saint Michael's College. The first decade of her career was in Human Resources at a bank, a software company, an Aerospace manufacturing plant and a graphic design studio. Finally realizing Human Resources was not for her, she started working as a Veterinary Assistant for a mobile Veterinary practice servicing all of Chittenden County and some of Lamoille County. After the Veterinarian closed her mobile practice, Erin started working at Bristol Animal Hospital. Erin is now a stay at home mom and recently had her second baby, Maeve. She's a music lover, trombone player, skiier, hiker, and birder. Recently she's been playing trombone in the Hinesburg Community Band, volunteering for VINS as a Bird Transporter and for Native Plant Trust as a Plant Conservation Volunteer helping monitor rare plant populations in the area. Erin, her husband Al, Eloise, and Maeve live in North Ferrisburgh with a little black mutt and three black cats.
